"And the raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming,
And the lamp-light o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted - nevermore!"
Director James McTeigue ("V for Vendetta") is going to tell us a story about Edgar Allan Poe, whose beautiful poems were inspiring many filmmakers before him. A maniac starts killing people in a small town the same way Mr. Poe's fictional characters do in his written works. Detective Emmett Fields teams up with him to catch that psycho, who likes also playing games before finishing off his victims. And when talented writer falls in love with a beautiful woman, she is destined to become the next one... Starring John Cusack, Luke Evans, Brendan Gleeson, Alice Eve, Pam Ferris, Oliver Jackson-Cohen.
Its trailer looks very dark and gothic. It reminds me Tim Burton's "Sleepy Hollow", but without Depp, which means without humour. I'd like to watch "The Raven" on the big screen.
If you want to read a full poem, you can find it here.
Release date - March 9, 2012.
